SJR 10 - Author: Senator De León. Firearms trafficking.

This measure would urge the President and the Congress of the United States to pursue a comprehensive approach to stem the trafficking of illicit United States firearms and ammunition into Mexico

 

 

AB 1410 - Author: Assembly Committee on Jobs, Economic Development, and the Economy. State government: international relations.

Existing law requires the California-Mexico Border Relations Council to, among other things, coordinate activities of state agencies that are related to cross-border programs, initiatives, projects, and partnerships that exist within state government. Existing law also authorizes the Office of California-Mexico Affairs to develop better relations with Mexico by coordinating with state agencies to foster economic cooperation.  This bill would repeal, and recast those provisions relating to the California-Mexico Border Relations Council. This bill would repeal, and recast those provisions relating to the Office of California-Mexico Affairs.

ACR 146Author: Assembly Member Lara. Cinco de Mayo Week.

This measure would proclaim May 1 through May 7, 2012, as Cinco de Mayo Week, and would urge all Californians to join in celebrating Cinco de Mayo.

SJR 13Author: Senator Vargas. Public utilities: cross-border transmission lines.

This measure would call upon the Secretary of the United States Department of Energy to reject Sempra Energy’s application to construct the Energía Sierra Juárez cross-border transmission line between Mexico and California in order to preserve jobs in California, promote energy independence, and uphold California’s labor and environmental laws.

AB 789 - Author: Assembly Member Chesbro. Solid waste: tire recycling.

The act requires the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery to adopt a 5-year plan, which is to be updated biennially, to establish goals and priorities for waste tire programs.

AB 525 - Author: Assembly Member Gordon. Solid waste: tire recycling: architectural paint recovery program.

This bill would require the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery  to provide outreach to local agencies regarding a program it may establish under existing law to award grants to cities, counties, and other local government agencies for the funding of public works projects that use waste tires.

AB 262Author: Assembly Member Harkey. California regional water quality control boards: boundaries.

Under the Porter-Cologne Water Quality Control Act, the 9 California regional water quality control boards are among the principal state agencies that carry out responsibilities relating to water quality. The act prescribes the boundaries of each regional board.  This bill would revise the description of the boundaries of the Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board and the San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board.

ACR 27 Author: Assembly Member Mendoza. Cinco de Mayo Week.

This measure would proclaim May 2 through May 9, 2011, as Cinco de Mayo Week, and would urge all Californians to join in celebrating Cinco de Mayo.

SCR 37Author: Senator Anderson. Border Patrol Agent Robert Rosas Memorial Highway.

This measure would designate a portion of State Highway Route 8 in the County of San Diego as the Border Patrol Agent Robert W. Rosas Jr. Memorial Highway.

SJR 16Author: Senator Vargas. Calexico West Port of Entry.

This measure would state that the Legislature declares its support for a private-public partnership to renovate and expand the Calexico West Port of Entry. This measure would also urge Congress to enact guiding legislation to authorize private-public partnerships such as the one proposed for the expansion of the Calexico West Port of Entry.

AB 1545Author: Assembly Member V. Manuel Pérez. Economic development projects.

The Bergeson-Peace Infrastructure and Economic Development Bank Act authorizes the California Infrastructure and Economic Development Bank, governed by a board of directors, to make loans and provide other assistance to public and private entities for various types of economic development projects, among other things. The activities of the bank under these provisions are funded from the California Infrastructure and Economic Development Bank Fund, which is continuously appropriated for these purposes. This bill would authorize the board to enter into development and financing agreements for projects within the California-Mexico border region, as defined.

SB 37Author: Simitian. Energy: State Energy Resources Conservation and Development Commission: natural gas.

This bill would enact the Liquefied Natural Gas Market Assessment Act and would require the Energy Commission, as a component of the integrated energy policy report, to conduct a study of the need for liquefied natural gas imports to meet the state’s energy demand. The bill would also require the Energy Commission, prior to a lease or permit being issued by the State Lands Commission or the California Coastal Commission to license a liquefied natural gas facility on the California coast, to update its study of the need for liquefied natural gas imports at least 60 days prior to a hearing by the State Lands Commission or the California Coastal Commission if the Energy Commission has not issued an integrated energy policy report within 180 days of the hearing.

AB 2113Author: Hueso. Vehicles: enhanced driver’s license.

This bill would authorize the Department of Motor Vehicles to enter into a memorandum of understanding with a federal agency for the purposes of facilitating travels within the western hemisphere pursuant to thefederal Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative through the issuance of an enhanced driver’s license, instruction permit, provisional license, or identification card.

AB 2083Author: Assembly Member Donnelly. Foreign Private Prison Commission.

This bill would establish the Foreign Private Prison Commission, which, in cooperation with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, would be responsible for the operation and administration of private prison facilities that are located in Mexico to house foreign nationals who have been convictedin California ofa criminal offense that makes a foreign national subject to deportation under the federal Immigration and Nationality Act.
